The Ohio State Fair takes place this year from July 30 until August 10. Thus, there are two more days
after today to enjoy this event. You can find out more about it by visiting the website:
http://www.ohiostatefair.com/osf/osf.phpYesterday the picture above arrived on my computer from my son-in-law's cell phone camera. The picture of
the Corn Wall at the fair features a blue body more than half-way up the climb. That person is Shannon, our grandaughter.
What a thrill she must have had from this adventure!
An e-mail earlier in the day from Shannon stated that she
was going to attend the fair and see her very first "live" pig. Gosh, I thought, hasn't she ever seen a pig?
Growing up in a rural area, the thought of someone not being familiar with the site of a pig cooling itself in the mud
was new to me.
Shannon called last night to say that she enjoyed seeing the pigs and the rabbits. (The interest
in rabbits is logical because the family has a rabbit, Maddie, at home.) Aside from the animals, Shannon was relating all
of the food that she enjoyed at the fair. The list included elephant ears, cotton candy and just about every other "fair"
confection. The family had a great time.
When I was a child, gas was cheap but wages were low. Thus, a trip
to the Ohio State Fair was only achieved occasionally. Today, things have changed. Gas is high but so are the opportunities.
I am happy that my grandchildren have the opportunity to do things that I may not have done.
Today's thought:
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Psalm:150:6
Yes, this is Hickory Hills. The name's the same but we have a bit of a different look. Our purpose remains the
same...to share thoughts, ideas and family things with others. This blog will be used for the little vignettes that I add
when the mood strikes. I will also share web addresses of sites I find interesting from time to time.
If you're
planning to enter the family section of the site, don't get too excited for you must have a username and password to tread
there. Otherwise, you are welcome to use our recipes, links and other resources that we share from time to time.
Please come back often and visit us. We'll look forward to your visit here.
Today's Thought: "I
have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have
overcome the world." Jn 14:27
